How To Quit Your Job In 90 Days!
Yes it’s true. You too could quit your job (responsibly) in just 90 days. I know you’ve been thinking about it. You’ve always wanted to do it.
Well, guess what? Here’s a nice little 90 day plan for you. Just don’t let your boss catch you reading this…
If you’re tired of having a boss and been wanting to be on your own, or if you’ve just been looking for some new opportunity, then keep reading.
Let me ask you a few questions…
• Are you tired of your long commute?
• Are you tired of people telling you what to do?
• Are you tired of slow career progression and being dependent on someone else to pay you? (I was)
In 3 months from today you could eliminate all of those things. Having a career in real estate is possible much more quickly than you might have imagined. If you’ve been itching to make the jump into real estate here’s a sample plan you could follow:
Enroll in real estate classes online so you can complete them while still working your day job. Refer to my post about how to get your real estate license for more information.
The two main ways you can complete your classes are either in the classroom setting or online. We recommend doing them online since it’s usually much faster, easier, and more convenient. Especially if you currently have another job, doing it online might be the only way that works with your schedule.
1 month to do this is a good benchmark. I have seen people complete all of their classes in two weeks and others who have taken 3 months to do it. It really all depends on you, but it’s really not unreasonable to assume you can finish it in less than a month even while having another job. (You can do it!)
Apply for, study, and take your licensing exam.
The real estate test is hard. I’m not going to lie to you. In order to make sure you don’t have to take it more than once, I would definitely put in some study time before you take it. It might have been a while since you were in school and had to study for a big test, but that’s ok.
Remember when you were in college and had to study for a midterm? Same idea. You’ll want to put in serious study time and make sure you know the material. It takes waayyy less time to study upfront and pass the test the 1st time than it does to take it multiple times…
So here’s the order: apply, study, take
Apply for the test first. I recommend this because usually, it will take your state’s real estate commission to process your application so you can take the test.
Parallel path. While you’re waiting to be able to take your test, use that waiting period to study for your test. I recommend putting your test date 2 weeks out if possible from when you apply. Here’s the trick: GET IT ON THE CALENDAR.
Once you get that test date on the calendar it will motivate you to get ready for it. If you just say, “I’m going to wait until I’m completely ready before I apply for my test,” it will take you MUCH longer. It’s just a psychological principle. When you have that date looming on the calendar, you’ll get ready for it. And 2 weeks is a good amount of time to get ready.
The best way I recommend studying is by taking practice exams. If you can pass those = good to go.
Find a broker!
Congratulations, you have completed your real estate classes and passed your test! And you did all that while still having a job. But don’t worry; it’s almost time to quit. The last thing to do is select the right broker for you.
Ideally, you can start doing research on this phase while you’re taking your classes and getting ready for your test. That way as soon as you pass you can get signed on with a broker and hit full steam ahead.
The perfect time to do this is to notify us when you are 2 weeks out from taking your exam.
